This Advent season, we want to celebrate the coming of our Lord with you, and rejoice as we connect more deeply with Christ.
For this year’s Advent readings at The Austin Stone Community Church, we asked some of our Story Team artists to write poetic prayers that center around the birth of Jesus and the salvation that first came to us in a manger. We hope these prayers stir your heart to worship Jesus along with us.
Ransom my affections, that I might fix
my thoughts, my heart, my all,
our long-awaited Savior.
May I remember the manger,
wherein lay Heaven’s intercession,
a humble child, God with us.
May I celebrate with the host of Heaven,
for eternal word has been made flesh
and a light has shone into the darkness.
May I consider the cross,
where sin demanded death
and death was conquered
by He who knew no sin.
May I sing of salvation,
for where tears once did flow,
streams of mercy have placed
a song upon our lips.
Above all, O Lord,
may I glorify Christ,
who was humbled,
who lived perfectly,
who broke the oppressor’s rod
and rescued us from sin,
and replaced our wayward hearts with hope.
It is for Christ we sing this season.
