Story Team Residency

Join our team for two years!

Story Team offers two-year, full-time residencies through the Austin Stone Institute. As part of this program you will grow in the areas of:

  • Doctrine & theology
  • Affections for Jesus
  • Character
  • Practical storytelling & ministry skills

As a Story Team Resident, you will work with Story Team staff, volunteer artists, and other residents to tell stories of how God is moving in the body of The Austin Stone and the city of Austin, Texas. The residency focuses on developing the practical skills required to tell stories with excellence, serve others, and provide pastoral care for the volunteer artists on Story Team.

The ideal applicant for a Story Team Residency is a hard-working, creative, and talented individual who believes that they have been called by God to use their artistic gift of storytelling to serve, equip, and encourage the local church. Applicants must have a strong work ethic and passion to pursue excellence in the art they create and the stories that they tell. All applicants will need to provide a collection of work as part of the application process
  • Filmmaking

    Filmmaking residents work with the Lead Storyteller and our Film Editor to sharpen their filmmaking skills. This includes shooting, editing, directing, and leading a team of volunter filmmakers.

  • Writing & Editing

    Writing and Editing residents work with our Lead Writer to write, edit, and publish written stories. They will also work closely in managing the projects of our volunteer artists.

  • Photography

    Photography residents will work with our Lead Photographer to grow as a visual storyteller. From written stories to image driven films and social media, they will use their skills widely.

  • Podcasting

    Podcasting residents will help the team produce the Story Team Weekly Podcast and tell audio stories in other formats.

March 1-4, 2018 – Support Raising Training and Workshop in Austin (required)
March – July, 2018 – Support Raising completion
August 1, 2018 – Residency Start Date
