Equipping Churches in the Art of Storytelling
Who We Are
We are a community of artists at The Austin Stone who tell stories of gospel transformation. Our hope is to inspire the church to worship Jesus for who He is and to remember what He has done.
We are photographers, writers, editors, filmmakers, and musicians. Story Team is a family of artists on a common mission to use our gifts for His glory. All of the stories, films, posts and photographs on this site are the work of our team.
We are a community of artists who creatively tell honest and encouraging stories of gospel transformation that inspire the Church to worship Jesus Christ for who he is and to remember what he has done.
What We Do
We tell honest stories of gospel transformation.
In order to tell an honest story, we must be courageous and willing to tell the dark side of life. This means we don’t shy from showing the ugliness of sin, because the true depth of sin makes clear the need for our glorious savior.
Showing the deepest darkness of our story allows us to juxtapose it with the blinding beauty of Jesus and His magnificent salvation. This shows our story of redemption in its true beauty and lets His glory shine even brighter.
We tell encouraging stories to inspire the church to worship Jesus.
To encourage our audience, we regularly put before them stories of Jesus’ redemptive work in the lives of His people. When believers continually hear of the great things God does through normal people, they gain hope to keep loving and serving exactly where God has them — no matter how difficult the journey is.
Story Team strives to identify, empower and equip artists in the local church to use creative storytelling to glorify the name and purpose of Jesus Christ.
Why We Do It
We tell stories to inspire the church to worship Christ for who He is.
Every story that we tell at the Austin Stone, whether it is through the written or spoken word, photography, or through a film, attempts to lead people to worship Jesus for who He is and what He has done. We tell these stories in order to stir our hearts’ affections for God, moving us to worship Him and give Him the glory that He deserves.
We tell stories to help the church to remember what Jesus has done.
We are a forgetful people. God commanded the people of Israel to build ebenezers, monuments to what He did for them, so they would not forget what He had done. When we tell honest and encouraging stories of gospel transformation we are creating modern day ebenezers that will inspire us and generations to come to worship Jesus Christ.
This is the heartbeat of Story Team. This is why we do what we do.
Let this be recorded for a generation to come,
so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD
How We Do It
The Austin Stone Story Team comprises staff, interns, and more than 50 volunteers who produce our film, written, and audio stories. This site is dedicated to sharing our experience and insight from over six years of gospel storytelling in the hope that more churches will discover and invest in the power of storytelling.
